On top of the unique second screen of this laptop, the Duo Pro has an OLED 4K screen and fantastic Core i9 performance. It’s still one of the most powerful implementation of that chip for video editors and content creators. Under my standard workload, which involves dozens of tabs, streaming music in Spotify, and Slack, the 16-inch MacBook Pro lasted around five and a half hours.

The 16-inch MacBook Pro 2021 has been redesigned in subtle but significant ways. It measures 14.01 x 9.77 x 0.66 inches and weighs 4.7 pounds (4.8 if you splurge for an M1 Max model), meaning it’s roughly the same size and just a smidge thicker than the Intel-based 16-inch Pro it replaces. The 100% recycled aluminum chassis has a flatter lid than its predecessor, with vents carved out of either side in service of an improved cooling solution and a redesigned 6-speaker sound system inside.

The frequency is very high and will not be an issue for most users, but the panel of the new MacBook Pro 16 is not suited for you if you are very sensitive to the flickering. This constant flickering also makes it extremely hard to determine the response times. They are pretty slow according to our measurements, but you do not really notice ghosting in practice. It looks like Apple’s Pro Motion technology with a dynamic refresh rate of up to 120 Hz helps a bit.
